Hi, I’m Drew.
I’m a DVSA Approved Driving Instructor, teaching manual driving lessons in Gloucester in my 2025 Suzuki Swift.
Choosing an instructor is personal. You want someone you can work with, ask questions and trust to help you make safe decisions. My aim is to help you understand the road and build the skills to drive independently.
Whether you’re starting at 17, returning to learning or feeling nervous about your first lesson, we’ll talk about your experience and what will help you learn.
How I teach
Build confidence through practice
We’ll agree manageable goals, practise them on real roads and reflect on what helped. Tell me if something feels difficult or you need an explanation another way.
Keep safety clear
I’ll explain and coach as we go. When a situation needs an immediate response, I may give a direct instruction or use the dual controls to keep us safe. We can talk it through afterwards.
What your first lesson feels like
You don’t need to arrive knowing how to drive. We’ll start with a conversation about you, your goals and any worries.
Get comfortable
We’ll check your licence, settle you into the driving seat and explain the controls and how we’ll work together.
Take the first steps
We’ll choose a suitable place to begin and work on the skills that fit your experience, with support as you need it.
Know what comes next
We’ll finish by reviewing what you’ve learnt and agreeing a focus for the next lesson. Questions are welcome throughout.
For parents and supervising drivers: we can discuss how private practice can support the pupil’s learning and keep the advice consistent.
My story
Before becoming a driving instructor, I worked in Human Resources and HR Information Systems for two large food manufacturing companies. Helping people develop skills, confidence and independence was the part I enjoyed most.
That interest in coaching led me to train with AA Driving School in March 2023. I passed my ADI theory in May and practical in August, both first time, then gained teaching experience through the PDI trainee scheme.
In December 2023, I passed my final DVSA qualification first time: a live, assessed lesson with one of my pupils. I became a full-time Approved Driving Instructor in January 2024.
I now run Drive With Drew Gloucester independently, bringing that coaching experience into lessons focused on understanding, judgement and skills for life.
